GLOBAL APPEAL 2025 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY I FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS Looking forward to 2025, as part of the implementation of the private sector engagement strategy, core activities to strengthen and diversify our income sources will include: • • Launching a new fundraising campaign combining previous initiatives on climate change and food insecurity to run during the summer months. Complementing the successful existing Winter, Ramadan and Aiming Higher campaigns, this will provide UNHCR fundraisers with branded year-round fundraising proposals and bring the current focus on climate into the mainstream. Maintaining and expanding our base of regular individual givers. Donations from this group provide flexible, resilient and predictable income, empowering UNHCR to act swiftly and allocate resources where the needs are greatest. This consistent support strengthens our ability to respond to emerging challenges and ensures sustainability in our efforts. • Investing and expanding programmes to strengthen relationships with (ultra) high net worth individuals and philanthropists. • Increasing non-financial opportunities for UNHCR private sector partners with a focus on mentorship opportunities. These initiatives have the potential to strengthen our relationships with donors and provide refugees with important skills to adapt to new countries and gain employment. • Enhancing engagement with individuals, including philanthropists, to support UNHCR by leaving a gift in their will. • Focusing our strategy for gift-in-kind contributions so that they are matched with clearly identified operational needs. © UNHCR Inditex’s clothing helps enhance the lives of refugees in Uganda INDITEX, one of the main global fashion retail groups, with seven brands including Zara, joins UNHCR to enhance the lives of refugees by providing much-needed support. This partnership primarily focuses on the donation of clothing and footwear, offering more than just protection against harsh weather and the risk of related diseases but also helps restore a sense of dignity and normalcy to individuals facing displacement. James Ngong, a resident of Palabek settlement in Uganda, has been caring for his brother under extremely difficult conditions. Reflecting on the impact of INDITEX's contribution, he says, "We have survived with the little clothing we receive. Thanks to [the clothing] donation, I feel relieved and grateful because it means hope for my brother and me." UNHCR GLOBAL APPEAL 2025 22
