The Adoptee Citizenship Act of 2021 introduced by Representatives Adam Smith (D-Wash.) and John Curtis (R-Utah) corrects the gap in the law by confirming international adoptees’ U.S. citizenship status, regardless of if they were over the age of 18 when the Child Citizenship Act of 2000 took effect.
