Introduction those on “new norms and new commitments” relating to the right to nationality in Africa (Manby), the avoidance of statelessness among children displaced by armed conflict in the Middle East and North Africa (Albarazi and Sen), the role of the EU in addressing statelessness (Bittoni, Swider, and van Waas), and on steps being taken towards the eradication of statelessness in the Americas (Mondelli). The lessons that can be learned by both focusing on regional perspectives and taking a step back and assessing challenges, developments, and innovations from the broader perspective of a Global Campaign to End Statelessness, are rich and plentiful. Collectively, these contributions draw upon those made at the First Global Forum. They show that the path towards a world free of statelessness is within our grasp. My hope is that they will inspire the necessary practical action needed to ensure that in the near future everyone will enjoy the right to nationality. 10
