This webinar examines progress and remaining challenges in identifying and protecting displaced stateless people in Europe. It highlights that, although most countries have joined the 1954 Convention, only 15 have fully functioning statelessness determination procedures that grant protection. As a result, many stateless people remain without legal status and face risks such as detention and exclusion. The discussion focuses on emerging good practices, growing political engagement, and new obligations under the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum to improve identification and protection. It also outlines the need for stronger, accessible procedures to ensure stateless people can access their rights.
