This article reviews Switzerland’s evolving approach to statelessness. Legal changes in 2014 and a key court ruling made statelessness recognition more attractive than refugee status, particularly for Syrian Kurds. Applications rose sharply, yet the system still lacks clear legal procedures, leaving uncertainties about rights during pending cases. The article highlights both the benefits and risks of Switzerland’s current framework and calls for clarification without undermining existing protections.
