The Campaign to End Statelessness October – December 2018 Update #IBelong Join us in our Campaign to End Statelessness Mobilizing Governments and Civil Society The fourth anniversary of the #IBelong Campaign was commemorated on 14 November at UNHCR Headquarters in Geneva. Government representatives, sister UN agencies, civil society partners, high-level supporters and UNHCR staff gathered to mark the mid-point of the Campaign. The event featured remarks by the High Commissioner for Refugees, the Ambassador of Brazil on behalf of some members of the Group of Friends, and Artee Mayer, a formerly stateless young woman from Thailand who recounted her journey from being stateless to becoming a citizen. Spirits were lifted with a performance by eShun, UNHCR’s High-Level Supporter from Ghana, who performed her Afropop-inspired IBelong song. The event also included the launch of a new Handbook for Parliamentarians on Good Practices in Nationality Laws for the Prevention and Reduction of Statelessness. The Handbook is a joint publication by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and UNHCR. 1
