Description: This report outlines the links between statelessness prevention and reduction, development, and the Sustainable Development Goals to demonstrate that stateless people are among those most likely to be left behind in any development process. It describes how it is not sufficient for statelessness to be integrated into existing development initiatives: it must be identified as a specific development objective that addresses the root causes. The report proposes three principles – do no harm, inclusion, addressing roots causes – to guide consideration of statelessness in development planning.
