36 Global Recommendations on Nationality and Statelessness in the Context of Climate Change PART B 6. STRUCTURE OF THE GLOBAL RECOMMENDATIONS Global Recommendations on Nationality and Statelessness in the Context of Climate Change PART B 6 6. STRUCTURE OF THE GLOBAL RECOMMENDATIONS Structure of the Global Recommendations 6.1 To underscore their practical benefits if implemented, the Global Recommendations are organized under the four pillars of UNHCR’s statelessness mandate45: (I.) Identify; (II.) Protect; (III.) Reduce; and (IV.) Prevent. Some of the Recommendations which appear under one pillar may also be relevant under another pillar or pillars. In such cases, the relevance of the particular Recommendation to other pillars is noted, without repeating the content of the Recommendation under multiple pillars. 6.2 As previously highlighted, affected populations that are relevant to the Global Recommendations include persons who are currently stateless and/or persons without a recognized nationality status living in climate-vulnerable situations in or outside their own country, as well as those who are at risk of future statelessness living in or outside their country of nationality. Each recommendation indicates to which categories of affected populations it applies and how. Table 1 provides a summary of which recommendations apply to which of the affected populations: 37
