STOP 4: ROME, ITALY Organisations and Individuals I Met With / Activities Engaged In (a) Workshop: Stateless Legal Clinicscxix, Roma Tre University Prof Flora Di Donato, Federico II University, Naples Prof Alice Riccardi, Roma Tre University Carlo Caprioglio, Roma Tre University Ulrich Stege, Director of the IUC Clinic Legal Education Program, International University College, Turin Enrico Guida, Protection Associate (Statelessness) United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Italy Law students of the Stateless Legal Clinics based in Rome, Turn and Naples The Italian Stateless Legal Clinics is a partnership project funded by UNHCR. The projects are focused on Rome, Italy, Katie Robertson 2023 resolving cases of statelessness and supporting persons at risk of statelessness. The Clinic operates through universities in three locations around Italy, including:    Rome: Based at the University of Rome "Tre"; Naples: Based at the University of Naples Federico; and Turin: Based at the International University College of Turin (IUC). Across the partnership, 18 students are supported by lawyers to provide legal assistance to stateless persons, with the different clinics connected to communities where legal assistance is most needed.cxx Beyond legal assistance, the project also undertakes outreach, facilitates a network of academics, NGOs and legal and social workers, and promotes best practices.cxxi Connection to UNHCR means that it can also refer into the legal clinics.cxxii The workshop provided an invaluable opportunity for me to learn more about the establishment and operation of the three stateless legal clinics through listening to presentations from staff, students and partners engaged in the clinics, as well as networking with participants throughout the day.
