That was the ambition when we launched the #IBelong campaign in 2014. By raising awareness and mobilizing global support around that ambition, we aimed to address a largely invisible crisis: that of millions of people around the world living in the shadows, without a nationality, unable to assert their most basic human rights. And we have made significant progress. © UNHCR/Anthony Karumba This report highlights the many achievements and successes of the #IBelong campaign – from policy reforms that grant women the right to confer nationality to their children to laws that prevent children from being born stateless. In Kenya, Vietnam, or Turkmenistan, we managed to find solutions for communities that had been stateless for generations. These are real, tangible changes that will bring stateless people one step closer to being able to fulfill their rights, to contribute to their communities and their societies more fully. 4 #IBELONG This progress was only possible because we worked in partnership, by bringing together States, organizations, United Nations agencies, academic institutions and others around a shared purpose. And above all, because we drew inspiration from the advocacy and strength of stateless people, who shared their stories and experiences, and helped drive #IBelong forward. But our work is not yet done. Together, let us take this opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved, review what we have learned and forge ahead with renewed resolve. Statelessness is solvable. Ending statelessness is possible. Let us be ambitious because solutions are within reach.
