I want to convey special gratitude to everyone who has been involved in the #IBelong Campaign and Global Action Plan to End Statelessness, whether through advocacy, action, support or telling your story. Since the launch of the #IBelong Campaign, we have made important gains against statelessness. In each point of progress and milestone that we’ve achieved together, we have witnessed lives change for the better. And in every individual who has gained nationality from these efforts, there is the promise of a better future. © UNHCR/Baz Ratner Now is the time to extend that promise to the millions of people who are still stateless. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights contends that “everyone has the right to a nationality.” This will only be possible if the international community – including States, regional networks, civil society organizations, and others willing to help – shares that same belief and takes decisive action. 42 #IBELONG Although #IBelong is ending, there is a new initiative to continue, accelerate and expand this critical work: the Global Alliance to End Statelessness. The Alliance is a collaborative multistakeholder platform that will increase collective advocacy efforts, catalyze political commitments and offer important opportunities to showcase progress. We will also be launching an updated framework, the Global Action Plan to End Statelessness 2.0, that will serve as a new roadmap to address statelessness and accelerate action. The #IBelong Campaign, and the actions it helped inspire, have been consequential. Your commitment, caring and action have made a world of difference. We count on your continued partnership to end statelessness.
