In this report, the national poverty line is chosen over the international poverty line, mainly because the majority of households report paying rent (93 percent), and rent forms a significant share of household total expenditure (16 percent). Excluding it would underestimate the poverty rate. Since there are not enough observations for any meaningful calculation of the poverty rates for rural households (17 households), they are excluded from the main analysis.
