Action 1. Resolve major situations of
statelessness
In June, Viet Nam’s National Assembly approved
an amendment of the Nationality Law to prevent
statelessness of Vietnamese overseas by waiving
and simplifying procedures for restoration of
Vietnamese nationality.
UNHCR / DIP Statelessness Section
The Government of North Macedonia has
become the first country in the region to resolve
all known cases of statelessness resulting from
the breakup of the SFR Yugoslavia. This
milestone was celebrated by a special ceremony
at the governmental Palace with the participation
of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of
Internal Affairs, followed by statements from
UNHCR and the OSCE.
