28 | PROTECTING STATELESS PERSONS FROM ARBITRARY DETENTION IN MALTA
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This report is published by the European Network on Statelessness (ENS), a
civil society alliance with 103 members in 39 countries, committed to
addressing statelessness in Europe. It has been researched and produced in
collaboration with ENS member the aditus foundation.
The report is part of a series undertaken through a three year ENS project
“Protecting Stateless Persons from Arbitrary Detention”. The Institute on
Statelessness and Inclusion is an expert partner for this project. The report was
created using a research template designed by the Institute, and extensive
guidance, comments and input was provided by its Co-Director, Amal de
Chickera. The ENS project has also benefited from an Advisory Group
comprising Mariette Grange (Global Detention Project), Katarina
Fajnorova(Human Rights League Slovakia), Jem Stevens and Ben Lewis
(International Detention Coalition) and Chris Nash (European Network on
Statelessness).
This report has been researched and written by Céline Warnier de Wailly, with
additional support and guidance from Neil Falzon, Director of the aditus
foundation.
ENS and the aditus foundation are most grateful to the civil society
organisations, government officials and legal professionals who lent their
opinion and expertise to this report. Special thanks and acknowledgement are
also owed to Greg Constantine for use of the images contained in this report.
Above all though, we must thank the stateless persons who shared their stories,
and whose everyday experiences illustrate just how much work remains to be
done.
ENS is grateful to the Oak
Foundation for its
generous support which
made this publication
possible. ENS also wishes
to acknowledge the
Institute on Statelessness
and Inclusion as an expert
partner for the ENS
project “Protecting
Stateless Persons from
Arbitrary Detention”.
