Salam for Democracy and Human Rights (SALAM DHR) is an NGO that endeavours to preserve universal principles of dignity and respect by shielding democracy and human rights. In the pursuit of this vision, SALAM DHR aims to influence the international community, including UN representatives to improve the situation in the Middle East, and foster advocacy of human rights and democracy. ISI adopts an integrated, human rights-based response to the injustice of statelessness and exclusion. Concerned with the use and abuse of citizenship deprivation powers, one of ISI’s thematic priorities is to counter arbitrary deprivation of nationality by calling out and resisting the trend towards increased use of citizenship stripping in a national security context, highlighting new situations and maintaining a spotlight on unresolved ones. The MENA Statelessness Network (Hawiati) is a network bringing together actors working on, and interested in, statelessness in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The network’s activities are broadly focused around reducing and ending statelessness in the MENA and protecting the human rights of stateless persons in the MENA. More specifically, the network’s founding strategy is identifying and understanding statelessness, fostering solidarity and collaboration and supporting advocacy.
