Chapter 7 UGANDA. Dramani is studying Medical Laboratory Science at Clarke International University in Kampala, Uganda, on a DAFI Scholarship. “I was born here in Uganda. Our family tried to return to South Sudan in 2009 but we had to flee once again in 2016 due to the conflict there. I came back to Uganda with two of my siblings. The rest of our family are still there as internally displaced persons. When I was young, I had the dream of becoming a medical doctor. Eventually, I managed to push through and today, I am quite close to achieving my dream.” In Uganda, all refugees have access to higher education as long as they meet the basic admission requirements.
