NONREGISTERED MAKTOUM EL QAYD INHERITED Persons born to a stateless father or unknown parents of Lebanese origins, whose family has been residing in Lebanon for a long period Persons in Lebanon whose name and identity are not attached to any official registry (qayd) Persons born to a Lebanese father and whose birth was not registered within the one-year time limit required by Lebanese law STATELESS Individuals who are not “considered as a national by any state under the operation of its law” FRINGE Exceptional cases of statelessness that occurred due to highly unusual reasons QAYD EL DARS Persons of unspecified nationality whose original nationality is pending and case is under study by the General Directorate of General Security Source: • Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons of 1954, Article 1 • Akoum, R.
