Description: This report highlights the severe persecution of the Rohingya, leading to over 770,000 fleeing to Bangladesh after 2017 genocidal attacks. It focuses on the 20,000 Rohingya in India, who face severe restrictions, xenophobia, and fear of deportation. Despite India's democratic principles and history of offering refuge, its treatment of the Rohingya undermines its global leadership aspirations. As G20 chair in 2023, India's response will test its commitment to humanitarian values.
