One exception is the Working Group on Discrimination against Women in Law and Practice which, in 2014, sent communications to those States that maintain gender discriminatory nationality laws indicating the Working Group’s concern about such laws.29 The table also shows that the Special Procedures have generally dealt with statelessness, arbitrary deprivation of nationality and access to nationality in the context of particular situations rather than through thematic reports. This has usually meant dealing with clear cut cases in which substantial populations have been denied access to nationality or been deprived of their nationality.
