Dr. Al-Dallal published a study on the legality of stripping nationality of naturalised foreign wives. (22) He argued in it that what the government referred to as a legal error in the previous application of the Nationality Law is not true. He also wrote an op-ed to warn against creating a “fourth-class” of people from those who were stripped of nationality based on Article 8. He stated that besides the stateless class, citizens’ class, and legal residents’ class, the fourth class of women will not be subject to the legal and constitutional foundations of the state. Therefore, this creates a state dilemma of how to respond to the basic needs of this class without any privileges or rights. (23) Mohammed Al-Baghli, a Kuwaiti economist, wrote about the lack of a comprehensive plan for the government to deal with the aftermath of stripping people of nationality. He warned about creating a black market or transferring huge economic assets out of the country. As people without identification documents or the ability to pursue jobs or hold bank accounts will have to resort to this instead. He also warned about the potential breach of trust in the state’s institutions because of the sudden mass stripping of nationalities without any resolution plan. (24) Mansoor Al-Muhareb,(25) a blogger, wrote about how resentful it was for the women whose nationality was stripped to be forced by the authorities to sign a “voluntary revocation of nationality” so they can get a state-issued identification.(26) He said that the right to issue a nationality by the Minister of Interior, instead of the Emir, to a foreigner from 1980 onwards - the amendment date - was approved by the Emir, making it legally acceptable. Abdullah Al-Saleh, a Kuwaiti journalist and economist, wrote about the damage of harming the reputation of the state internationally due human rights violations in stripping naturalised people of their nationality. He cited a teacher whose story appeared on BBC, who was fired from her job once her nationality was stripped.
