ABSTRACT This study provides an analysis of statelessness among people of Lebanese descent in the northern governorate of Akkar. It starts with an overview of the local context, shedding light on the level of socioeconomic instability, which has been exacerbated by the current global pandemic. It also introduces the history of statelessness nationally, before diving into the specificities of this issue in Akkar. The results are viewed through a comparative lens, looking at the findings of a previous study on statelessness in Tripoli. This study on stateless persons of Lebanese origin residing in Akkar relied on both quantitative surveys and insights from key informant interviews, as well of qualitative information gathered from extensive fieldwork. Lastly, the report includes a section on policy recommendations.
