OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF UNRWA . 49 UNRWA provides a lifeline for extremely poor families and offers stability in an inherently unstable environment by keeping alive the hopes and possibilities of Palestine refugees. It does so by delivering, for example, a solid, basic education and by representing Palestine refugees within the UN and with UN member states. UNRWA’s experiences, while drawn from a unique context, offer lessons for working in protracted crises that have wider relevance and value in the region and globally. Looking ahead, UNRWA whilst continuing to fulfil its mandate through the resilience of its systems, can be a stronger contributor – if it is enabled and equipped to do so – to the global discourse on strengthening the humanitarian-development nexus.
