Description: This is the treaty text of the Protocol to the ACHPR relating to the Specific Aspects of the Right to a Nationality and the Eradication of Statelessness in Africa. The Protocol was passed on 18 February 2024, nearly two decades after the idea of a pan-African instrument on the right to a nationality was first raised in 2007. It includes provisions creating double jus soli (Article 5) and concerning the resolution of nationality for cross-border and nomadic populations (Article 8).
