Description: The Swedish Organization Against Statelessness (SOAS) and the Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion (ISI) made this joint submission to the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC), on the right to a nationality and human rights challenges pertaining to statelessness in Sweden.

This submission focuses on: I. Limited access to Swedish nationality for stateless children born on the territory; II. Limited access to effective Swedish nationality for children at risk of statelessness born abroad; III. Lack of a statelessness determination procedure; IV. The practice of registering children with ‘unknown nationality’; V. Lack of transparency and adequate data on childhood statelessness and ‘unknown nationality’.
