connected to Fadi Chalouhy. Born into statelessness in Lebanon, Fadi now resides in Australia and generously shares his time and expertise with me in his capacity as Ambassador of the Stateless Legal Clinic. The funding allocated to the Clinic by the Cameron Foundation was named after Fadi’s late mother Hiam Chalouhy who fought tirelessly to ensure her son had access to an education and a future, despite the barriers placed in his way by virtue of his lack of nationality. Thank you to all those who have supported me in Australia with this Fellowship, in particular Professor Michelle Foster and my colleagues at the Peter McMullin Centre on Statelessness, as well as my colleague Kate Fischer-Doherty of the Melbourne Law School Clinics at the University of Melbourne. A special thanks to Anna Wilson, Amelia Walters and Hannah Gordon for their research and editing support. Immense thanks to Evan Davies for his formatting support, often late into the night while juggling bedtime routines with two young children. Thank you to all the exceptional students I’ve been lucky to teach and work with in the Clinic to date – the future of legal advocacy and leadership on this issue is bright. The work of the Stateless Legal Clinic would not be possible without our partnership with the Refugee Advice Casework Service.iii Thank you in particular to my valued colleagues and friends Sarah Dale and Ahmad Sawan. Thank you to all the incredible organisations and individuals that took time to meet with me during my Fellowship. I look forward to continuing the work together and hope to be able to repay the hospitality in Australia one day. Fadi Chalouhy in the Stateless Legal Clinic (Katie Robertson 2023) I would particularly like to acknowledge those with lived experience of statelessness who generously shared their stories with me. As a non-stateless person, I remain acutely aware of the privilege I enjoy in my ability to travel for 5
