Description: In 1995 governments from around the world agreed on a comprehensive plan to achieve global legal equality known as the ‘Beijing Platform for Action.’ In 2020, gender equality is far from being realised and as such, every five years, Equality Now has updated ‘Words and Deeds’ highlighting sex discriminatory laws affecting women and girls and other vulnerable people. This report is the fifth issue. This report particularly focuses on gender discriminatory family laws including codified, religious and customary family law.
