In Colombia, 40,000 people, mostly Colombian Venezuelans, have been arbitrarily stripped of their nationality since 2021 by the National Civil Registry Office, leading to loss of employment, healthcare, and civil rights without due process or notification. This has resulted in social, economic, and psychological harm among both the individuals directly affected, and their families.
