Among the Shona community, 73 percent of the working age population is employed, while 24 percent are outside the labor force (OLF). The remaining 2 percent who are available and looking for work are considered unemployed. Women are less likely to be employed than men (72 percent vs.75 percent). Among Kenyans living in urban areas, 69 percent are employed, 26 percent are OLF, and 4 percent are unemployed. In addition, similar to the Shona population, Kenyan men living in urban areas are more likely to be employed than their female counterparts (76 percent vs. 62 percent, p<0.01; Figure 31).
