Update – southern Africa Financial information The comprehensive needs budget for the southern Africa region for 2022, which was approved by the Executive Committee at its annual plenary session in October 2021, amounted to $436.5 million. Reflecting a $46.6 million increase from the 2021 final budget of $389.9 million, the budget approved for 2022 remains unchanged as of the end of January 2022. As of 25 January 2022, some 5 per cent of the region’s 2022 financial requirements were funded, taking into consideration the indicative allocation of unearmarked and softly earmarked contributions. ____________________ 7
