This article reports from 2021 when around 170 Rohingya refugees in India were detained and facing deportation back to Myanmar, where they had previously escaped genocidal violence. Despite holding UNHCR refugee ID cards, these detentions are part of a broader nationwide crackdown on the Rohingya population, exacerbated by the rise of anti-Rohingya sentiment since the BJP came to power in 2014.
