GENOCIDE DAY
Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day is
observed annually on August 25 to honor
the memory of the thousands of Rohingya
Muslims who were killed and displaced
during the violent military crackdown in
Myanmar's Rakhine State in 2017. This day
serves not only as a somber reflection on
the atrocities committed—marked by mass
killings, sexual violence, and the forced
displacement of over 700,000 Rohingya to
neighboring Bangladesh—but also as a call
for justice and accountability. International
organizations and Rohingya advocates use
the day to raise awareness of the ongoing
humanitarian crisis and to push for legal
action against the perpetrators of the
genocide
