naturalization procedures; the grant of such nationality may be subject to such
limitations as may be imposed in the interests of national security or public policy.
2. Each Contracting State agrees that the present Convention shall not be construed as
affecting any legislation or judicial practice by which the alien wife of one of its
nationals may, at her request, acquire her husband’s nationality as a matter of right.

Article 6: Name and Nationality
1. Every child shall have the right from his birth no a name.
2. Every child shall be registered immediately after birth.
3. Every child has the right to acquire a nationality.
4. States Parties to the present Charter shall undertake to ensure that their Constitutional
legislation recognize the principles according to which a child shall acquire the
nationality of the State in the territory of which he has been born if, at the time of the
child’s birth. he is not granted nationality by any other State in accordance with its laws.

Article 6: Marriage
States Parties shall ensure that women and men enjoy equal rights and are regarded as
equal partners in marriage. They shall enact appropriate national legislative measures to
guarantee that:

d) every marriage shall be recorded in writing and registered in accordance with
national laws, in order to be legally recognised;

g) a woman shall have the right to retain her nationality or to acquire the nationality of
her husband;
h) a woman and a man shall have equal rights, with respect to the nationality of their

to national security interests;
